About this site

Statistical genetics, particularly quantitative and population genetics, was tough for me as a first-year grad student. I would easily get stuck on papers, which would be swimming in equations and abstract concepts, many of which were beyond my comprehension, thanks to my limited knowledge of probability theory and statistics at the time. I got over it eventually, but back then, I wished there were some resource that would articulate these dense, abstract ideas in a more accessible way.

If you’re a student who feels this way, I feel your pain. The primary goal of this site is to be a resource for people who want to understand cool ideas in statistical genetics without getting hung up on the mathematical details. Make no mistake though: You will have to get over your fear of math and statistics if you REALLY wanna¬†master these concepts. I’m going to talk about concepts, sometimes using papers as an example, sometimes with code, and often with infographics (I love infographics). This is my first time doing something like this so I would love some feedback!
